We are pleased to offer several methods of investigation/inspection including:
Type 1 : Technician Visual
Technician Visual. This is when our technicians will inspect all areas of the unit for activity. This inspection is ideal for tenants that have samples, are getting bites and have seen bugs in the unit, or when another company has done treatment and it may still be active.Type 2: Cimex Detection Case Inspection.
This is when our technicians will bring in our Cimex Case (the size
of a briefcase) into the unit for a 3-8 hour time period. The case has a human pheromone, heat adjuster
and CO2 machine inside of it. It basically mimics a human body with an extra attractant. If there is
a Bed Bug within the unit, it will hit the machine within 2-3 hours. We usually leave it in first thing
in the morning, or later in the afternoon. The machine will be set up in front of the tenant/manager
and locked when it is turned on.
When the technician returns the next day he will unlock it in front
of the tenant/manager and pull out the pheromone that will have the sample if there is activity in the
unit. This is an excellent tool if the tenant is getting bites, but can’t find any signs of activity.
It is ideal if there has been another company in the unit for treatment and the tenant is still getting
bites. It is also an excellent tool for vacant units that have had prior Bed Bug activity. The case
is also very discreet. Prior to this type of treatment we used other methods and found the discretion
level was not as high as it absolutely needs to be in any sensitive buildings.
We have since switched over to the Cimex Cases which is very discrete, accurate/ and have had nothing but positive feedback.
Type 3: Portable Onsite Inspection Unit.
This is primarily used for move in’s, or individual items in question (Beds/Couches/Antiques etc.). The unit is a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer that will arrive in the am. The tenant/owner will load up there items into the trailer upon arrival. The Onsite Inspection Unit is sealed and insulated. The unit is completely blacked out, except for a green “black light” above the detection
area. Once the items are loaded into the unit, the door will be locked and bolted. The Unit will be
heated between 18.8 and 20.4 degrees Celsius. This is the ideal temperature for Bed Bug activity. Once
the temperature is ideal, the heat will shut off, waiting until the temperature drops to about 15 degrees.
This is when the Cimex Detection Unit will be turned on. The Cimex Case has a human pheromone, heat
adjuster and CO2 machine inside of it. It basically mimics a human body with an extra attractant. If
there is a Bed Bug within the unit, it will hit the machine within 2-3 hours.
Once the Portable Onsite
Inspection Unit has finished its cycle, the door will be opened up and the Cimex Case will be unlocked
in front of the client. If there are any Bed Bugs in the unit, they will be on a sticky pheromone trap.
If it is active, the items in the trailer would require treatment. This is an extremely beneficial tool
with Housing Societies, Property Managers and Building Owners that NEED to know if the new tenants moving
in have any Bed Bug activity in their items. For further Prevention Programs, please call us to discuss
your options.
